Natural Hair Journey

Hi lovelies!

I have been natural for 4 years now but only last year I came to start loving my hair in its natural state. I kid you not, it was very difficult for me to love my hair as everywhere I looked there were hardly any representations of people with the same hair type as me (4C hair). Most people with 4C hair were either hiding their hair under wigs or negatively speaking about taking care of this type of hair and to be honest most natural hair pages I was following only featured curly haired naturals with probably one person with 4C hair, so I was discouraged and became lazy on giving my hair the proper care it needed to thrive.

For a long time, I didn’t feel that my hair was “beautiful enough” for everyday wear so after every wash, I would do braids, wear wigs and weaves. Only after a lot of reading and starting my journey to personal happiness, I realised that I only stopped relaxing (chemically altering) my hair because I had breakage and not because I was happy & confident to wear my hair in its natural state. I realised that becoming “natural” meant more to me than just not relaxing my hair, it meant that I was able to live a life where I am comfortable with the way God made me and not the way society says I should be.

I’ve been gathering more knowledge on my type of hair (4C) and surprisingly a lot more people with the same type of hair have been doing hair care videos on Youtube! This has encouraged and reminded me that a little bit of patience and determination is all I need to achieve healthy natural hair.

I’m still learning and testing out different hair products & still yet to determine what works best for my hair, however, here are a few products I am currently using that are proving great so far…

**Jamaican Black Castor oil shampoo**

(Shea Moisture)

**Jamaican Black Castor oil Strengthen & Restore leave-in Conditioner**

(Shea Moisture)

**Deep Treatment Masque**

(Cantu Shea Butter)

**Vibrant Naturals Nourish & Replenish Conditioner**

I am very excited about sharing more on my journey to discovering what works best for my hair and the end goal of having healthy natural hair!

Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I understand what you mean there are not that many women with 4c hair showing it off so it can be hard to lie your hair and know what to do with it.

I used to feel exactly the same about my hair too and I have only just come to love it this year as I now know how to care for it and love it.
